Centsys D2 Motor for Sliding Gates to 250kg
A high speed compact sliding gate motor designed for use with a single residence. Its compact design is ideal when space to open is limited. Has a unique modular construction so parts can easily be replaced.
Has a 12VDC motor that is highly efficient so can keep going without over heating and allows it to run off a battery so will keep going even if mains power fails and allows more economic supply of power depending on what's available. 12VDC motors also have very effective obstruction detection for a higher level of safety.

Power Options
The motor out of the box plugs into a normal 240V power point at the gate or your electrician can hard wire it to mains power. This motor has a built in battery so will continue to work if there is a power failure. If getting 240V mains power out to your gate is difficult you can go Low Voltage by choosing the Low Voltage Option that can plug in at the house (or where ever a power point is available) so low voltage power cable can be run out to the gate. You can install low voltage cable yourself, you don't need to be a registered electrician, although going solar with the D2 maybe more economic because the low voltage model already has a built in battery and charge controller, its just a matter of swapping the transformer for a solar panel.

Maintenance Requirements
Sliding gate operators required very little maintenance although it is a good idea to remove the lid once a year and the motor checked for any ants or other small vermin. Ants and any droppings should be cleaned out, holes where they could get in sealed up with silicon sealer and repellent placed in or around the motor.
The rack should also be checked and adjusted by opening and closing the gate while looking at the output gear of the motor where it contacts the rack making sure there is a clearance of 1mm or so. If the motor runs noisy once the rack has been adjusted the motor may need to be pulled apart and gearing cleaned with new grease applied or bearing may need replacing.
The battery needs regular checking. Using a multi-meter check the voltage on the battery as the gate is being opened and closed. The voltage should hold above 12.5V on the battery if the battery is in good condition. If the battery drops below 12V during any stage of the gate movement then it

How this motor compares to others?
The thing that stands out the most with Centsys D2 is it's healthy feature list for the money, including the ability to set different running speeds. The fact that the maximum gate weight is only 250kg may be a concern but considering that most residential sliding gates are less than 100kg this isn't normally an issue. The motor comes with a battery built in where with other brands this is an optional extra. Also this motor runs off the battery keeping the battery healthy because they like to be used.
Another handy feature is the fact that it doesn't use striker plates at each end of the gate so the bottom rail of the gate doesn't need to extend quite as far as motors that do, so is ideally suited to gates that have limited side room to open.
The Centsys D2 is better suited for DIY installation than most because of the low voltage/solar power options and easy programming.
The motor has a faster maximum speed than most and has good remote control range in all conditions so if you live on a busy road you can have that gate open before you get to it so you can drive straight into your property without holding up traffic.
Another handy feature not seen on many motors is the ability to hold the gate open if using the auto-close. All other gate motors have the option to close by themselves after a time delay (auto-close) but very few allow you to hold the gate open when you need to.
Another good feature is the lockable lid that makes the motor more secure than most as you need a key to be able to get the lid off the box. With most gate motors the lid is attached with a couple of screws that are easily undone then the gate can be opened by pressing a button on the control board inside the motor.
A thing with motors that run off a battery is if the battery is run flat it must be charged before the motor will work, the motor cannot run directly off power and batteries do have a limited life span of 3 to 5 years. Ok a replacement battery is around $35 to $45 and they are available at most automotive, battery, alarm and electronics shops, so they aren't expensive and it you have any sort of handyman skills you could replace it yourself, so you don't need to pay a technician to come out and replace it for you.
It's always a good idea to make sure that the power point that is used for the motors power isn't likely to be unplugged and the motor battery left to go flat after a few days use.
