MB-2-320 - Most Versatile Mounting Brackets for Inward Opening Gates

Making the installation of worm drive swing gate motors easier and looking good.

Suitable for:

Inward Opening Gates set in the middle of a narrow metal or timber post or up to 100mm from the back of a larger brick or concrete post using worm drive swing gate motors with a 320mm stroke length assuming the full stroke length is being used, if hard stops are being used then the X and Y dimensions are reduced by 19mm for each stop as the hard stop reduces the stroke length. If the gate is light weight the X and Y dimensions can also be reduced to increase speed sacrificing some torque.

What's in the Box

Gate Mounting Bracket (GMB) that can be bolted to aluminium or timber gates or self drilling screws can be used for steel framed gates.

Post Mounting Bracket (PMB) that is fitted hard up against the hinge edge of the post to open the gate to 90o allowing 160mm space behind a gate that opens against a fence or wall. If the hinge pivot point isn't 27mm from the post then the PMB should be placed to get the an X-Dim of 132mm or as close to it as possible.

Both brackets are made from zinc plated steel.

For wider Opening Angles

The gate must be fitted flush with the back of the post for an opening angle larger than 90o, which makes the Y-Dim smaller and so the X-Dim can be made larger to increase the opening angle. The X-Dim cannot be any more than 167mm otherwise the cover for the motor will clash with the gate. The value of X-Dim can adjust to set the exact angle required up to a maximum of 115o. For gates hung from a 100mm square post wider opening angles will cause the PMB to be off the edge of the post so will need some other form of support such as an extra post fitted next to it or the PMB can be custom made with extra support built in. Once again wide opening angles are only recommended for gates less then the maximum recommended width for the motor.

For Larger Posts

If fitting to a core filled brick or concrete post the PMB can be flipped horizontally so the mounting holes in the base plate line up with the concrete core for a good strong fixing.

The holes in the base plate can be drilled out to 20mm diameter to allow for fixings large enough to reach into the concrete core.

To get the gate further forward from the back of the post a longer stroke motor is required.
