Outward Opening Swing Gates
Most swing gates open inwards away from the road.
If a driveway slopes up from the road then an inward opening swing gate won't work because it will strike the driveway.
It would be more desirable to have the gate opening outward but usually council will not allow the gate to cross the front boundary line so to gate needs to be set back from the road. A double outward opening swing gate would need to be set back as far as a single.
The disadvantage of an outward opening gate is you need extra fencing and you loose some length of your driveway permanently.
It is possible to have a swing gate opening outwards and have the motor on the inside of the property as you normally do with inward opening gates.
